Does the Outlook add-in work with a different email service, such as Gmail?
Sure, it’s pretty easy to connect your Gmail account to Outlook. However, the procedure for adding a Gmail account differs slightly depending on your Outlook version. For a step-by-step procedure, see the Microsoft documentation.
How can I check the status of my emails?
Go to the epiKcloud Add-in tab and open My Shares window. Check the pending shares where you should see the progress of each outgoing email, i.e., uploading. If the upload doesn’t work, check your credentials and internet connection. If the email upload is still unsuccessful, contact your administrator to verify the epiKcloud Server version.
What to do if the email I just sent disappears after Outlook add-in installation/upgrade?
Typically, this happens if an internal database is corrupted. Open the Settings dialog within Outlook, search for the version number and close your Outlook. In Windows Explorer, look for a file named Logshare.db and delete it. Then start Outlook again. The file should be automatically re-created and the upload should work normally. What does the message ‘Connection Failed’ mean?
It means that you can’t connect to the epiKcloud server. Check your internet connection; try to connect to the server by using your web browser. Test your credentials and make sure that you entered the correct proxy settings. After you solved the issue (the message Connection Successful appears), restart your MS Outlook. Do I need a license for the Outlook add-in?

How to install the Outlook add-in?
Download the Outlook add-in and close your Outlook. Then install the add-in as administrator. Go to the Add-in tab and open the Settings to set up the host name and user credentials of the cloud server. After the installation, restart your Outlook.

What are the prerequisites for using epiKshare add-in for Outlook?

Why do I receive a message “E2EE Share is disabled”?
This error message appears in E2EE Share v. < 1.2.5, when checking the Share Encrypted checkbox. First you have to check your configuration. Then re-import the license and click Apply E2EE Groups. Log out and log in again. It should work now.
Are there any file size limits?
This depends on your configuration–your browser, operating system and available memory (RAM). Since the encryption/decryption takes place in your browser, the file needs to fit within the available memory. Typically, it should not be a problem sharing files > 2 GB. However, with bigger files the encryption/decryption process might require you to wait until the process finishes before uploading and after downloading the files.
How long does encryption process take?
This depends on your hardware. For small files (< 20 MB) it is barely noticeable on modern systems or even mobile devices. It takes longer with larger files, which can be observed before uploading and after downloading the files.
Where does the encryption happen?
The encryption happens exactly where it should: on the sender’s and recipient’s computer. Any other security layer in between (SSL, epiKcloud Server encryption, firewalls) becomes secondary.
How does E2EE work?
The epiKryption end-to-end encryption is user-controlled and performed on-the-fly by a web browser. Data is encrypted at its source and safeguarded by “key pairs” (a private key is stored on the recipient’s end, while a public key is stored on the epiKcloud server). Only the recipient who has the “key” can access and read the shared data. It is the safest and easiest way to send encrypted files between two or more people. Not even an administrator, backup service or other third parties who might have access to the infrastructure can read the data you send. For details, see epiKryption.
Why do I receive the message that the system is not licensed although I have a valid license?
Typically, this happens if you haven’t specified the correct URL(s) for your license keys. Make sure to provide the exact URL(s) the system will be visible from (i.e., https://example.com/owncloud) to epiKsupport. If you plan to use different URLs for the same installation, you need to provide all of them.

Why do I need the epiKryption (E2EE) plugin?
Simply put, because you want to keep your personal data private. The E2EE plugin prevents any unauthorized persons from accessing or reading the encrypted data. It is installed on the epiKcloud Server. The sender shares the data via the epiKcloud WebUI or, ideally, uses epiKshare’s Outlook add-in. The shared data is secured by key pairs. The public key is stored on the epiKcloud Server, while the private key remains on the receiver’s computer; it can be backed up and restored at any time. The file to be sent is encrypted (256-bit AES) and uploaded to the server. The recipient receives an email with the link to the shared file and can download it using their web browser.
How does epiKryption (E2EE) for epiKcloud work?
The epiKryption (E2EE) plugin must be installed on the epiKcloud Server and then you can use the encryption. You can share the data safely and easily with the epiKshare Outlook add-in or with the epiKcloud WebUI. No additional software is needed; you can handle all features simply in your web browser.
The data is encrypted before it leaves your workstation and decrypted on the recipient’s workstation. The recipient receives an email with the link to encrypted data and can simply download it by using their web browser. For details, see Encrypted Sharing of Files.
Is it safe and wise to move everything to epiKcloud?
epiKcloud is a file sharing server that can store all your data (photos, books, music, emails, etc.) in the cloud. This means that only you have access to it and control over it; without third parties or governments involved. However, you alone are responsible for your data and should take all the measures available to prevent a data breach.
